OUR CHALLENGES
Farmers and other producers are finding it harder to maintain profitability as their traditional methods reach maximum potential. Ensuring the quality, quantity, and safety of our food supply is an increasing concern. Human health is compromised by the growing epidemic of obesity and food-related disorders, as well as the spread of disease among wildlife, livestock, and humans.

OUR STRENGTHS
Virginia Tech's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is uniquely positioned to address such challenges by capitalizing on strengths developed over the past 135 years. The college is actively pursuing research-based solutions that will transform not only agriculture, but also communities in Virginia, the nation, and the world.

OUR SOLUTIONS
Our researchers will investigate how new knowledge and technologies can benefit health and nutrition and prevent obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Our extension and outreach programs will help Virginia producers increase their profitability. We will work with communities to build their local economies. And our investigators will develop state-of-the-art ways of treating major infectious diseases, such as West Nile virus, La Crosse encephalitis, and malaria.

WORKING TOGETHER TO INVENT THE FUTURE
Through The Campaign for Virginia Tech: Invent the Future, our community of supporters, alumni, and friends will help us to respond fully to the needs of Virginia agriculture and, above all, to realize our most important mission -- enhancing the quality of life in the commonwealth.
