Hokie Parents Fund
The Hokie Parents Fund is a special giving program for parents of current and former students. Gifts to the Hokie Parents Fund not just improve campus life; they also increase the overall quality of a Virginia Tech education. Parents, past and present, have played a vital role in enriching the quality of life for Virginia Tech students through this initiative. The Hokie Parents Fund has been instrumental in providing needed resources to Virginia Tech for 31 years. This philanthropic support allows the administration to make investments in campus programs and facilities vital to campus life that would not otherwise be possible.
Example programs
Some of the programs that have been supported by the Hokie Parents Fund include:
- Educational Enhancements: classroom and laboratory equipment and books for the library
- Campus Safety: emergency phones throughout campus, additional lighting for recreational areas, and improvements in health services
- Career Services: recruitment and job fairs for that important transition to a career
- Recreational Activities: Parents Day family weekend, sponsored student breaks during exams, and intramural sports
- The Common Book Project: a way for new students to share a common learning experience
