Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine
OUR CHALLENGES
Thanks to remarkable advancements in technology and training, high-quality care is widely available to our pets through both general and specialty veterinary practices. However, the United States is experiencing critical shortages of veterinarians in the areas of public health, food safety, research, and agriculture. Some studies predict the nation will be short nearly 15,000 veterinarians within the next two decades.
OUR STRENGTHS
At Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, we embrace the opportunity to address these challenges. We have established strong academic programs in clinical medicine of all species, in research, and in corporate and public veterinary medicine. This assures that positions in clinical practice, food safety, drug discovery and regulation, and public health will be filled with qualified veterinarians. In addition, the VMRCVM is one of only a few schools dedicated to the pursuit of innovative research and teaching in translational and comparative medicine. Our curriculum is among the broadest in the biomedical sciences.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Soon, we will begin construction on a translational medicine complex, which will include a laboratory building to carry out basic research, a translational medicine building to offer new treatment protocols, and an instructional building to increase the number of students and faculty in our program. We will enhance our graduate programs, emphasize the recruitment and retention of exceptional faculty, improve research infrastructure, and continue to develop our translational medicine program in order to meet society's demand for more veterinarians.
WORKING TOGETHER TO INVENT THE FUTURE
