Corps of Cadets
OUR CHALLENGES
Since its founding, Virginia Tech has maintained a steadfast allegiance to its roots as a land grant university and the principles upon which it was founded: Duty. Service. Loyalty. Brotherhood. Honor. Sacrifice. Leadership. Ut Prosim. The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets has been an important part of that allegiance and has played a significant role in the development of the leadership capability of thousands of young men and women. The corps is poised to continue that proud tradition into a future desperately in need of the kinds of skills and qualities it instills in its participants.
OUR STRENGTHS
The Corps is a 24 hours a day, seven days a week leadership laboratory. The Rice Center for Leader Development fosters experiential learning in the areas of leadership, civic responsibility, service, and moral values. These learning experiences contribute to the development of informed and responsible individuals who are committed to making a difference in their nation and in the world. What's more, cadets bring their disciplined approach to everything they do.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Our best tool in recruiting outstanding cadets is the Emerging Leader Scholarship, which is supported by private gifts from corps alumni and friends. We will offer more Emerging Leader Scholarships to cadets and enable those scholarships to more adequately meet ever-increasing financial needs. We will also provide more and better learning opportunities for their growth through the Rice Center and other programs.
WORKING TOGETHER TO INVENT THE FUTURE
As we look to the future of Virginia Tech and the nation, we see a need to continue to grow this group of outstanding and dedicated cadets. As our cadets continue to go out into the world to make their mark -- as they go into the world to lead -- they take with them the ideals emblazoned on the pylons. These principles are firm, unchanging, and timeless. They are deeply ingrained in a promising generation of tomorrow's leaders.
