The Importance of Private Philanthropy

Throughout Virginia Tech's history, private philanthropy has played a critical role in shaping the success of our educational mission. Since the earliest years of the university, friends and alumni have confirmed their confidence in our vision. Their generosity has made possible the unique position we are in today. We have more programs, more students, and more successes in research and education than ever before.

As a public institution, we still look to the government in executing our basic educational mission, but philanthropy has made possible the increasing strides we have taken in discovery and innovation.

Today, private giving provides everyone the opportunity to participate in the big ideas that will shape the future of our society. A gift to The Campaign for Virginia Tech: Invent the Future will help invent the future -- the future of research, the future of service and leadership, the future of learning, the future of building technologies, the future of the arts.

And there are many ways to participate. On this website, you will find brief descriptions of the ways by which you might make your gift to the Virginia Tech Foundation and how those gifts will make a difference.

Whether it's an outright gift that can be used immediately or a deferred gift that will come to Virginia Tech at some time in the future, you will join the community of philanthropy that continues to shape the promising future of this university.
